The Onanay actress tells this story to her followers, “In the 60's, I loved the then famous commercial of SHELLANE (a cooking gas company of which I'm not sure still exists) because there was a tiny cute cartoon fairy that would be flying around like tinkerbelle; With big round eyes and a sort of Mohawk hairdo that twirled at the top.

“So when the company announced they were holding a national contest to scout for the real life Ms. Shellane, I excitedly told my parents I wanted to join!

“I remember this being a real big event with finals held at the Rizal Theater hosted by THE late Great Pepe Pimentel. As it was my turn for the Q&A.”

Cherie revealed that even though she didn't win the contest, it motivated her to go after her dreams.

“I was asked why I joined the contest and all (chubby) 5-year-old me answered proudly 'because I want to fly!'

"Though I only made 1st runner up to now Bff @jackiecastillejo, I recall being so thrilled and confident to go on with wherever life took me from then on.”

“I flew and spread my wings as wide as I possibly could! I've had my bad landings, not to mention missed turns and glass window splats spiraling head first to the ground, sometimes even bloody, but healed those chipped wings nonetheless and slowly made my way up to flight once again no matter.”

She also made a shoutout for her daughter, Bianca Rogoff, who is starring in an international film.

“Because of this amazing experience, I have learned that there is no other way to go on in life and so I prod my daughter @bianca.rogoff to do just that! Fly fly fly my beloved and share with the world your light and love #happyinternationalgirlsday”
