Mart shares how he feels about being part of
Ako si Kim Samsoon, and what he would do if he were in Kokoy’s shoes.
For an all-star cast of comediennes and veterans, Mart Escudero provides a breath of fresh air with his character’s sincerity and seriousness. In this interview, Mart shares how he feels about being part of ‘Ako si Kim Samsoon’, and what he would do if he were in Kokoy’s shoes. Text by Jason John S. Lim; with an Interview by KC M. Abalos. Mart Escudero says that when he first found out he would working with Ms. Regine Velasquez, he didn’t feel nervous, he felt ecstatic.

"Sabi ko, 'Ayos 'to!'" Aside from
Mark Anthony Fernandez and Jennica Garcia, Mart has never worked with the other cast members on a long-term basis. And as such, he was excited for the project. "Kasi 'yung mga katrabaho ko magaling. Alam ko 'yung pupuntahan kong project, hindi masasayang [at] may pupuntahan."
It’s not all smooth sailing though, Mart reveals. He admits that he was challenged by how he was supposed to portray Kokoy. "Nahihirapan ako sa mga part na kengkoy-kengkoy."
Lucky for him, the 'kengkoy' part was over quickly. Now, it's mostly adulation for Eliza (Jennica’s character) and showing her that she can't pretend to be rich for much longer. And acting in love is not that difficult, Mart adds, when you already have feelings for the person you're pretending to be in love with.
And he says he’s very happy that he keeps getting paired up with
Jennica.
In the show, the storyline that involves Jennica and him is the one where Eliza is pretending to be rich to be part of the in-crowd. And while Kokoy is very much against what Eliza is doing, he himself wouldn’t mind if a friend of his would pretend to be rich.

"Kung kaibigan lang ang turing ko sa kanya, 'di ba?" Mart says that as long as his friend doesn’t go overboard with pretending, and "basta ‘wag lang masama ang kababagsakan", he’ll let his friend do whatever it is his friend wants to do. "Suportahan kita sa gusto mo, pero tama lang."
He says that it’s not because he doesn’t care about his friend; it’s more of letting his friend do what he wants "kasi ‘yun 'yung gusto niya eh."
It’s different though when
Mart's in love with the friend in question; if for example, we were talking about Eliza. "Siyempre titingnan ko muna kung ikasasama niya.
"Kasi ako rin ang masasaktan."
