Sarah recounted the harrowing tale by posting the incident via Instagram Stories. According to her, the currents were just too strong for Esther. Her dad, Abdel Lahbati, had to rescue her.

“My mom (Esther) is in Siargao, she drowned and vomited blood. Please, please send help and prayer if you are in Siargao.

“I've been crying and shaking. This has never happened before. Thank God, my mom is conscious na, with dextrose and oxygen. She's resting because she lost lots of blood when she vomited.

“The currents were too strong and she drowned. My dad (Abdel Lahbati) saved her but she still lost a lot of blood and was conscious. They had to fight the current to get to the boat.”

In another update, the former Kapuso actress assured everyone that her mommy is better and slowly recovering.

Sarah also expressed her profound gratitude to everyone who helped her family during this incident.

“She's better now and slowly recovering at the clinic. Picking her up tomorrow because there isn't any flight today. Thank you everyone who called and helped us.”

Siargao is located in the province of Surigao del Norte and is a popular surfing destination.
