Direk Chris Martinez, nagbigay ng opinyon tungkol sa unti-unting paghina ng mga lokal na pelikula, “What's happening now is we're suffering the consequences…”
Nagbigay ng saloobin ang four-time Palanca awardee at batikang direktor na si Chris Martinez tungkol sa mga problemang kinakaharap ngayon ng Philippine movie industry.
Sa kaniyang social media post, tinukoy ng Daddy's Gurl director ang sa tingin niyang naging dahilan ng unti-unting pagkamatay ng local movies.
Aniya, “The death of Philippine Cinema started when the malls monopolized film distribution.”
“Our 'senior gatekeepers' in the industry allowed this to happen.
“What's happening now is we're suffering the consequences.
“It was bound to die. Hopefully, it's a slow death.”
Dagdag ni Direk Chris, “Or some kind of miracle happens. A miracle that will control if not eliminate, all our greed.”
May post din tungkol sa kalagayan ng local film industry ang award-winning director na si Erik Matti.
Ilan sa mga pelikula na dinirehe niya ang Honor Thy Father, Seklusyon, at Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles, na pinagbidahan ng Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes.
Sa mahaba nitong post sa Facebook nito lamang February 7, hiniling niya na dapat makialam ang gobyerno para maisalba ang Philippine cinema.
Paliwanag ni Erik Matti, “The state of our film industry, the business of it, is in a dire situation.
“Someone should do something about it. Government should intervene.
“This is not a slow death anymore. We are on life support and we need resuscitation.
“No more pointing fingers. I think we're beyond that at this point. This is a plea for help.”
Patuloy pa niya, “All I know is, we cannot go on making movies where no one sees them.
“We cannot blindly just trudge along busily working on our films without thinking about whether all this passion is really worth it.
“We cannot keep on spending millions for movies that no one gets to see.
“This is alarming. SOMEONE SOMEWHERE SOMEHOW SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.”
