Pinagkaguluhan ng fans ang mga artistang nagsipanooran ng 'Shake, Rattle & Roll X' premiere sa SM Megamall last Saturday, December 20, 2008. Watching this Regal Films horror fest has become a Pinoy Yuletide family tradition, especially since this is already the 10th anniversary of the film franchise. Text by Jillian Q. Gatcheco. Photos by Jason John S. Lim. Going strong Nag-iisang horror flick ngayon ang Shake, Rattle & Roll sa Metro Manila Film Festival, as compared to the previous years na may kasabay siyang scary movies. "I am proud to say that the SRR series is already a worthwhile Christmas [Metro Manila Film Festival] tradition among Filipinos," sabi ni Roselle Monteverde of Regal Films. "This year, Regal can claim that SRR is the most successful franchise as it is the last movie standing among the film sequels for the past years." Dalawang batikang director ang gumawa ng tatlong short films for the movie. Si Mike Tuviera ang nag-direct ng “Emergency” and "Nieves" - ang first and last stories, at si Topel Lee naman ang in charge sa "Class Picture," the second story. Tuviera and Lee have both directed horror films in the past, such as TXT and Ouija, respectively. The right mix The cast lineup is composed of the best of Kapuso and Kapamilya artists: Marian Rivera , Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, JC de Vera , Roxanne Guinoo, Mylene Dizon, Wendell Ramos , Diana Zubiri , Jean Garcia, Iwa Moto, Stef Prescott, Prince Stefan, Jennica Garcia, John Lapus, IC Mendoza, and Pekto, among others. In "Emergency," kaabang-abang ang bagong team-up nina JC de Vera at Roxanne Guinoo. Commendable din ang acting chops na ipinakita nina Wendell Ramos at Mylene Dizon, who were the spine-tingling villains in the story. "Nieves" stars Marian Rivera as the engkanto slayer, and she does a spectacular performance as a palaban and feisty character. This story was intentionally more of a laugh trip than a scarefest, especially with Pekto’s particularly memorable role. The first and last mini-movies were visual effects-heavy, and to a certain extent, gory, which is why the second one, "Class Picture," proved to be the most frightening. Of course, this doesn't mean that "Emergency" and "Nieves" weren't good; it's just that the second one was more realistic because of the plot. Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson led the cast of "Class Picture," together with Ms. Jean Garcia. StarStruck artists Prince Stefan and Stef Prescott were also part of the lineup. After watching this story, you wouldn’t look at nuns and class pictures the same way again! stars Shake, Rattle & Roll X had the right mix of entertainment and horror to elicit well-deserved laughs and screams from the packed cinema last Saturday. It was also remarkable how Kapuso and Kapamilya fans got together to cheer on their favorite artists who attended the premiere. Sabi nga ni Mother Lily-Monteverde na nagpasimuno ng SRR series, "Magandang magkakasama lahat ng Kapuso at Kapamilya tuwing Pasko through Shake, Rattle & Roll. I want everyone to be part of this rich horror tradition in Filipino films. We made SRR X truly special for all of you."
