New Kapuso Ysabel Ortega amazed the press when she admitted that she's currently taking up Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy at the University of Asia and Pacific. Does she have plans to follow the footsteps of her dad?

20-year-old actress Ysabel Ortega is making waves in the entertainment industry one project at a time.

After appearing in the GMA Telebabad series The Gift together with Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards, she recently signed her contract with GMA Network making her a full-pledged Kapuso.

But did you know that this daughter of Senator Lito Lapid and Michelle Ortega is a full-time student as well?

She tells the press, “Malapit na po [akong gumraduate]. Two more years, nasa college na po ako, but we're getting there and getting by.

“I started [showbiz] when I was 16, pero just like my mom, pinagsasabay ko rin po 'yung pag-aaral ko.”

It's official! Thank you so much to @artistcenter, ma'am Lilibeth, ma'am Gigi and of course my loving nanay lolit @akosilolitsolis for trusting me to be a kapuso. My past few months in this network have been full of very warm welcomes and beautiful beginnings. To my manager sir Daryl and to my handler ate @maemars_ , thank you for always looking after me and I can't wait for what's to come ❤️ Thank you and I love you GMA

The young star amazed the press when she admits that she's currently taking up Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy at the University of Asia and Pacific.

Which begs the question, does she have plans to follow the footsteps of her dad?

“Well 'di naman po anytime soon.

“Kasi po my focus now is pag-arte. Pero right now I just want to learn more about it.

“Kasi 'yun din po 'yung sinabi ko [sa kanila] na I want to learn something aside from the media industry para I have a chance to learn something else.”

Nearing the end of the interview, she was asked how she balances her career in showbiz and her studies at the same time.

“Kasi for me, work isn't every day.

“So when I don't have work I try to go to school and attend class. Like later, pupunta pa ako ng class.

“So to me po, it's just time management lang and making sure your professors understand your situation kasi siyempre as a working student may konting understanding naman po iyon sa kanila.

“'Yung sa akin naman po as long as I tried to study and make an effort, kaya naman po,” she concludes.
