Promising actress and showbiz royalty Ysabel Ortega is now officially a Kapuso after she signed a management contract with GMA Artist Center last Thursday, September 26.

Promising actress and showbiz royalty Ysabel Ortega is now officially a Kapuso after she signed a management contract with GMA Artist Center last Thursday, September 26.

Coming from a prominent family in the entertainment industry, Ysabel is no stranger to the limelight. In fact, it was her parents - action star Lito Lapid and singer-actress Michelle Ortega- who inspired and nurtured her to become an artist.

She shared, “I grew up watching their movies and television shows and na-inspire ako. 'Yung mommy ko, lagi ko pong pinapanood 'yung mga videos niya online sa That's Entertainment, especially 'pag kumakanta siya. I idolize my mommy 'pag kumakanta siya. Syempre, 'yung daddy ko po, 'yung mga action films niya.”

“I'm taking it as a challenge, I'm not pressured because my family is very supportive in what I do. Before, sobrang shy lang po ako but they helped me come out of my shell. What I love po about them is, kahit na I make mistakes, they teach me, they guide me, and they're very supportive and I think it's really good to have that foundation,” she added.

Present in the contract signing were GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, GMA Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara, GMA Artist Center Senior Talent Manager Daryl Zamora, and Ysabel's mother and co-manager Michelle Ortega-Pimentel.

For her first project under the Kapuso Network, Ysabel is part of the GMA Telebabad series 'The Gift.' Ysabel breathes life into the character of Sabina Villegas, the half-sister of Sep played by Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards, who is the bratty but good-natured daughter of Nadia (Jean Garcia) in her second family.

Ysabel has nothing but gratitude for the trust that she's receiving from the Network, “I'm very grateful na ito ang first project ko. Sobrang light lang palagi 'yung taping, maganda 'yung chemistry ng lahat. Dito sa GMA, I want to prove myself talaga and I want to show them kung gaano ako ka-passionate sa pag-arte at sa craft ko na ito.”

Aside from being an actress, the newly-signed Kapuso is also a full-time student, taking up Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy at the University of Asia and the Pacific.

Rasonable commended Ysabel for her talent which she looks forward to showcase in more projects, “She dabbles into singing so maganda ring subukan natin siya doon. Of course, we have to hone her more sa side ng acting because she really wants to be a good actress someday but she's well on her way there.”
