Sa gitna ng success ng pinakabagong music video ng OPM singer na si Donnalyn Bartolome na “HBD,” nahaharap ang singer sa isang kontrobersiya matapos akusahan ng pangongopya.
Ilang fan ng K-pop singer na si Somi ang nagsasabing kinopya diumano ni Donnalyn ang kanta ng una.

Trending sa Youtube ang music video niya na “HBD” na may mahigit sa 3.7 million views na matapos ito lumabas noong October 10.
Sa magkasunod na Facebook post ni Donnalyn, binigyang-linaw niya ang mga naglalabas na espekulasyon na plagiarized ang “HBD” at ito ay hango sa single ni Somi na “Birthday.”
Paliwanag ng female OPM artist, mas nauna siyang mag-release ng kanta niya at tanging ang music video niya lamang ang na-late na mai-labas dahil inabot ito ng one year.
Ani Donnalyn, “I have been accused of plagiarism and I am hurt. My fellow Filipinos are accusing me of it and I will correct them. This is about my song “HBD” and Kpop song “BIRTHDAY”
“I know I spent long hours in the studio with my producer Andales specifically instructing what and where to add the elements to my song HBD. CUSTOMIZED.
“This is ORIGINAL PINOY MUSIC.
“But I understood why people thought I plagiarized even though I published my song 2018. It's because the music video of HBD is 1 year late.”
Nilinaw din ng OPM singer na hindi niya ginagamit ang isyu na ito para i-promote ang kanyang music video.
“I honestly was flattered with the kind comments saying that it's comparable to that song, but when many commented plagiarizing--that I even have a chance to get sued and others implied that it's a copy of the song, I lost it.
“I don't want to be accused of using this to promote my song and for its success to be disregarded because of it so I want to to put an end to this hence the edit. Thank you for supporting your own. 🇵🇭”
Sa sumunod niyang post sa Facebook, hiniling niyang huwag nang idamay ang K-pop singer na si Somi.
“Ilang beses ko ba sasabihin I'm not blaming the artist, so leave Somi alone.
"It's SOME of the Filipino kpop fans who are accusing me of stealing after Magblow up ng HBD sa internet.
"So malamang naglabas ako ng defense ko na hindi ako ang may plagiarism issue before, it's the producer under YG and it just so happen it's the same producer who made Somi's “Birthday””
