Sa gitna ng banta ng coronavirus disease 2019 o COVID-19, hinangaan ng netizens ang young politician dahil sa kanyang dedikasyon sa kanyang unang taon bilang alkalde ng Pasig.

Sa loob ng apat na araw na pa lamang ng pagsasailalim ng buong Luzon sa enhanced community quarantine, pinuri na agad ng publiko ang mabilis na aksyon ni Mayor Vico.

Dahil dito, nabuo ang hashtag na #ProtectVico sa Twitter dahil malaki ang pontensyal ng batang alkalde na umupo sa pinakamataas na posisyon sa gobyerno sa bansa, ayon sa netizens.

Para maprotektahan ang kanyang mga nasasakupan mula sa pandemya, kabilang sa mga preventive measure na ipinapatupad ni Mayor Vico sa Pasig ang pagpapalipad ng disinfectant drones, pagpapatayo ng disinfectant tents, at pagpo-provide ng bike para sa mga essential worker gaya ng mga doktor at nurse. Sinimulan din niya ang pagbibigay ng purchase request forms para sa 400,000 food packs.

Kaugnay ng month-long public transportation ban sanhi ng enhanced community quarantine, nakiusap si Mayor Vico sa nakatataas na pamahalaan na payagan ang pagbabyahe ng mga tricycle para sa health workers. Gayunpaman, hindi ito pinahintulutan ng Department of Interior and Local Government o DILG para malimitahan ang paglaganap ng COVID-19.

Bagamat nakakatanggap ng papuri, mayroon pa ring bumabatikos kay Mayor Vico dahil sa kanyang mga hakbang na ginagawa.

Pahayag tuloy ng batang alkalde sa mga naninira sa kanya, "Wala po kaming panahon makipaglaban sa mgha trolls at paninira. Lahat na lang gusto nilang gawing politka. We are just trying to do our best to SAVE LIVES.
