Neil Gaiman on The Sandman adaptation

In response to a fan, Neil Gaiman gave an update on the upcoming adaptation of his comic book series 'The Sandman.'

Award-winning author Neil Gaiman has given an update on the much-awaited adaptation of his hit comic book series 'The Sandman.'

Last year, Netflix announced that it was adapting 'The Sandman' into a live-action series with Gaiman on board as one of the executive producers.

As COVID-19 has shut down production in Hollywood for both television and movies, a fan dropped a question on Gaiman's blog asking for an update on the upcoming series which has already faced a number of difficulties in the past.

Gaiman acknowledged that the pandemic has indeed affected the series, but assured fans that the team is continuing work on the adaptation.

"It's going really well, except it's kind of hibernating right now until people start making TV again. The scripts for the first season are written, casting had started, directors hired, sets were being built. Everything was ready to go into production, and then we moved into a pause. As soon as the world is ready to make TV drama, Sandman will move smoothly back into being made. In the meantime, we are taking the opportunity to get the scripts as good as we can," he wrote.

The Sandman tells the story of Dream--also know as Morpheus, the Dream King and many other names--who tries to rebuild his kingdom and avenge himself after being imprisoned for many years.
