Kapuso Ultimate star and Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation) actress Jennylyn Mercado is turning a year older tomorrow, May 15.

To commemorate her special day, GMANetwork.com asked her long-time manager, Becky Aguila for a few words for the birthday celebrant. Here's what she has to say:

"From the first time I met her, I knew one thing about Jennylyn for sure, and that is she is a very passionate person.

“She takes a leap of faith. Everything she gets into, she takes a risk and is unafraid.”

Becky also underscored how the singer-actress managed to deal with all the shortcomings that came her way as an artist and as a person as a whole.

“She is very brave, as seen on how she dealt with all the trauma she experienced in her past and how she was able to rise above it and help others like her, in her own way.

“She is also very honest. An artista na hindi showbiz. Which is a rare find in an industry where artists tend to show a false narrative of who they really are. In short, she is kind because she is kind,” she said.

Becky likewise related how proud she is to become one of Jennylyn's friends in the entertainment industry and even in her personal life.

“It is a privilege of mine and everyone who has come across this beauty to be a part of her life. She deserves so much happiness,” Becky added.

Jennylyn Mercado's showbiz career through the years

Jennylyn is a Kapuso homegrown talent whose been making waves since she rose to fame in 2004 after winning the much-coveted StarStruck's Ultimate Survivor title.

After her victory, she appeared in various teen-oriented shows and drama series including Click, Joyride, Forever in My Heart, Encantadia, I Love NY, Rhodora X, Second Chances, My Faithful Husband, My Love From The Star, and The Cure.

She was also seen on the silver screen, having been cast in films such as So Happy Together, Let The Love Begin, Blue Moon, Super Noypi, Just The Three of Us, and Walang Forever, among others.

Also an excellent singer, she ventured into recording and released several albums.

Jennylyn took a break from acting when she gave birth to her son Alex Jazz in 2008. When she came back, she had her hands full again with TV and movie projects.

She also top-billed the blockbuster hit English Only Please where she bagged the Best Actress award of Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in 2014 for her outstanding performance in the said romantic-comedy film.

This 2020, Jennylyn secured a lead role in GMA Network's local adaptation of one of the world's most well-loved drama series, Descendants of the Sun (DOTS), opposite Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes.

Jennylyn has come a long way from her early days in showbiz. She has survived nasty rumors and publicized breakups, and still emerged as one of the brightest stars of her generation.

It is no wonder Jennylyn owns the title Ultimate Star.
