By Cara Emmeline Garcia

Yes, you read that right! YG Entertainment has announced on May 18 that Korean girl group BLACKPINK is preparing for a three-part comeback that involves a full-length album in September.

In a statement made earlier today, the South Korean agency announced that the group, composed of Lisa, Jisoo, Rose, and Jennie, has just finished recording 10 songs for their very first album.

They also added that the scheduled comeback in June is only the first phase of their elaborate plan.

“BLACKPINK's first song, which will be released mid-June, is a pre-release title track,” they explained.

“The members are currently preparing to film the music video of the song and they are currently picking up the pace of their final preparations, including their new choreography.

“The second new song, which is a special kind of song, is scheduled for a release in July or August.”

However, they did not add any more information about the second track.

Finally, the group's much-awaited studio album was announced to be released in September.

“As it is their very first studio album, we hope to create more opportunities for the group to greet fans through performances and other content than any year before through this three-step, multi-phased release.

“Please show love and support towards BLACKPINK and the members who are sincerely working hard for their upcoming comeback.”

The great news was then followed by a wave of support from fans, most especially on Twitter.

As of press time, the hashtag “BLACKPINK” is the top trending topic on the social media site.

Here are some of the fans' reactions to the latest announcement.

While the statement received generally positive reviews, there are a few fans who argued as to why the full-length album will come four years after the group's debut.
