Jackson Wang becomes first Chinese solo act to chart on US Top 40 with '100 Ways'
A few months after the release of the worldwide hit “100 Ways,” Jackson Wang is making history by becoming the first Chinese solo artist to debut on Mediabase's Top 40 Radio Chart.
Mediabase is a radio tracking service under iHeartMedia who recognized the chart-topping hit at No. 39 on its weekly Top 40 chart, dated May 24th.
According to Mediabase President and CEO Philippe Generali, the song had a total of 997 plays over the week, with a total audience reach of 1.19 million people.
Adding, “We would like to congratulate Jackson Wang and his team on this amazing accomplishment.
“Breaking new artists is a challenge in any environment. Doing so during one of the toughest times our world has faced in nearly a century is a real tribute to the talent of so many people as they were able to keep the momentum of moving without the usual ability to do traditional promotional events and travel. Congratulations again to all.”
As of this writing, the official music video for Jackson's “100 Ways” has already reached more than 25 million plays on YouTube since its release on March 20, 2020.
Furthermore, it was reported that the #100WaysChallenge racked up over 118 million views on the social media platform TikTok.
In an interview for Forbes Magazine, Jackson Wang thanked all of his supporters for showing love for the track and wished to continue making them proud in his future endeavors.
“I'm so blessed and grateful for the Team Wang members, all my people, and all my supporters.
This means the world to me. It's another piece of history we made together. Everyone please, please take care and stay safe.
“I hope I can continue to make you all proud. This is just the beginning, let's continue making history together.”
