The performance involves digital sensors attached to each of Arashi member's body that convert their movements to sounds and other commands. It has been streamed as part of We Are One: A Global Film Festival's COVID-19 fundraiser.

Top Japanese idol group Arashi joins the We Are One: A Global Film Festival as they stream a number of their performances for free for a limited time.

"We are very honored to be a part of We Are One: A Global Film Festival.

"For this amazing film festival, we prepared a special performance video. We can't be there with you right now but please enjoy online at home," member Jun Matsumoto says in the beginning of the video.

The group's special participation is part of the film festival's fundraising efforts for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization.

"We'd also like to take this opportunity to thank all the medical workers and all essential workers who put their lives at risk for us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts," says Sho Sakurai.

The select performances are lifted from Arashi's past concerts which are notorious for being very difficult to buy tickets to since they sell out fast.

"The three songs you are about to hear include our performance at the National Stadium where the previous Tokyo Olympics were held and where Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games were supposed to be held this summer, as well as 'Hope in the Darkness' which has never been shown digitally before. Please enjoy our performance," Sakurai continues.

Arashi chose to start off with "Sugar" from their 'Untitled' live tour which was held from 2017 to 2018.

It was followed by a technologically spectacular performance of "Hope in the Darkness" from their 2014 live tour 'The Digitalian.' The performance involves digital sensors attached to each member's body that translate their movements to sounds and color coded lights.

The group rounded up their performances with one of their most enduring hits, "Love So Sweet" from their 2012 concert 'ARAFES.'

The performances will be available for seven days since it was first streamed today, June 4. Watch them here:

The We Are One: A Global Film Festival kicked off on May 29. It features major film festivals including the Berlin International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, and Venice Film Festival streaming their content for free on YouTube.

It was organized by Tribeca Enterprises in response to scheduled film festivals getting shut down due to the continued threat of COVID-19.
