EXO's Kai to release a solo album, SM Entertainment confirms

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

It seems like SM Entertainment has no plans of stopping with their back-to-back announcements because EXO member Kai has just been confirmed to make his very first solo album soon.

According to the South Korean agency, “Kai is preparing for a solo album,” thus confirming speculations that the K-pop idol will target its release by the second half of the year.

However, no further details were revealed about the album and its upcoming lead track.

Kai will become the fifth member of EXO to make a solo debut in addition to Baekhyun, Chen, Suho, and Lay.

Following the announcement, EXO-Ls went gaga on Twitter with the hashtags “#KAI_IS_COMING,” “#KaiSoloIsComing,” “KIM JONGIN,” and “KAI WORLD DOMINATION” leading the trending topics on Twitter.

Here are some of the fans' reaction about the “long overdue” announcement:

Kai has previously discussed his plans for a solo album early this year during an interview with GoGoBoi.

He said in January, “First of all, there are plans. A lot of fans have been anticipating it but this is the first time I'm saying this clearly.

"I hope everybody can look forward to it.”

Kim Jong-in, better known as Kai, debuted as a member of EXO in April 2012.
