Award-winning indie actor Elijah Canlas explained why he isn't afraid to let his Twitter followers know about his thoughts and sentiments about several social issues.
Chatting with GMANetwork.com, the Gameboys actor admitted that he was scared to be bashed before.
“Well ako, before, kasi ako people pleaser ako, so medyo nahu-hurt ako kapag ganun,” he said.
“Pero I've come to understand that in this world, hindi pwedeng mag-agree lahat.
“Hindi pwede mag-agree lahat and we all have our own principles, and I'd like to believe that may moral compass ako, and I know what is right and what's wrong.
“And if I have the privilege and the power to speak up on behalf of those who are in need, or those who are affected, those who are suffering, I will do it in a heartbeat.
“You just weigh it, kapag ano ba 'yung mas tama, ano ba 'yung mas nakakatulong.
“And kung may magagawa ka, why not?”
Elijah also gave an update about his studies amid the COVID-19 crisis. Elijah is currently enrolled in University of the Philippines Manila taking up a course in Philippine Arts.
“Actually sa UP, maraming, you know, hindi maka-attend ng classes because they don't have laptops or internet,” he said.
“Hindi naman ako nagpi-pity but I wish I could just do something to help them.
“And sobrang na-appreciate ko even our profs na they're very understanding, and they're very cooperative because even they are going through something with this whole pandemic.
“Tulungan lang talaga. And I want to finish my studies rin para tuluy-tuloy na 'tong [showbiz career.]”
