According to the singer the project mimics the varying emotions of the four seasons in a year.

He said in an interview for SM Town at the time, “'We have four seasons in Korea: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. In each season, I believe situations, weather, emotions, and everything changes.

“I'll be back to you every season with a song that fits its theme. Starting with summer, and then I'll release a single this autumn, winter, and next spring too. It'll be a beautiful four seasons.

“I believe the songs will make you excited every season. I will do my best to record every song while thinking about all of my fans. I'll be waiting for the day that we can all sing together once again.”
