Whether you like it or not, the LSS-inducing children's song “Baby Shark” is now the most-viewed video on YouTube.
As of writing, the Pinkfong viral video has accumulated 7,049,009,706 (as of November 3, 2:12 PM- PH time) views. It took the viral song four years to achieve this feat, which was first uploaded on June 17, 2016.
The previous record-holder “Despacito” of Luis Fonsi has amassed 7.039 billion views---good for second place.
According to an article posted on BBC News, the song reportedly "originated from US summer camps in the 1970s." Another theory the news report mentions is, the song was said to be created in 1975, the same year when Steven Spielberg's box office hit Jaws came out.
With its catchy tune, which millions of kids love, it won't be surprising to see the song hit 10 billion views in the near future.
