Christmas is for animals, too, especially those who don't have homes to call their own.
This was the message of Kapuso actress Carla Abellana as she asked the public to support a feeding program campaign for strays on December 21 and 28.
The Christmas Stray Feeding initiative is being organized by Carla's friend and animal welfare advocate, JC Cruz.
“Christmas is fast approaching and it's time to make some strays feel this season too,” wrote Carla on Instagram.
“Let's all share our blessings by giving them one of the best gifts a stray dog or cat can get, a clean and decent meal.”
Those who are interested to help can donate cash through the bank accounts mentioned in Carla's post.
The collected amount will be used to buy dog food, rice, chicken liver, ground pork, hotdogs, vegetables, paper plates, and bowls.
Carla is a known advocate of animal rights and welfare.
Just last month, she lost her adopted dog named Wing.
Wing's passing happened a few hours after Carla helped another dog to get surgery.
“Just this morning I paid for the surgery and medication of a Chihuahua mix from Bohol to help save him. His owner didn't have enough money to have him treated and I couldn't say no to helping them out. Thank goodness he survived and is now back home,” wrote Carla on Instagram.
“Little did I know that hours later I would rush my own WING to the Vet to try to save him as well. Except this time I wasn't able to. I failed.
“Why is it that I am able to help save other animals and not my own, Lord?
“I'm trying to find comfort in his sister, Fly, making sure she doesn't get confused or too lonely without her brother. They were inseparable, you see. That's why I adopted them together.”
