Maybelyn dela Cruz is still confined in the hospital but the former actress remains optimistic despite contracting COVID-19.

Maybelyn shared on December 12 that she got infected by the coronavirus when she participated in the relief operations for the victims of typhoons Rolly and Ulysses in Cagayan. She went on a voluntary self-isolation, took the swab test, and immediately had herself admitted to the hospital upon learning that her result came out positive.

Four days since announcing the unfortunate news, Maybelyn took to Instagram for an update about her family and expressed her thanks and hopes.

She wrote, “I'm smiling because there are so many things I am grateful for! Dagupan City CHO finally got in touch with Michael today to inform him that their RT-PCR test results are out: they are all NEGATIVE!!! Thank you, God, for another answered prayer!”

The former actress, who is currently receiving medical attention at the Dagupan Doctors Villaflor Memorial Hospital, also expressed her appreciation for the frontliners who have been taking care of her as well as to her loved ones who have been showering her with prayers and support.

She continued, saying, “Thank you to the amazing doctors of DDVMH, Dr. Juvie Villaflor, Dr. Virrey, Dr. Siapno, and to all the nursing staff of the Red Ward, most especially Nurse Nicole, for earnestly taking care of me and the others. Hindi kumportable ang suot-suot ninyong PPE pero nagtitiis kayo para sa amin. Maraming salamat po! I do know my symptoms could have been worse, and I am seriously thankful that I am getting better each day.

“I would also like to say just how grateful I am to my family and friends who have been so generous--whether reaching out through calls, texts, leaving FB and IG comments, DMs, IMs, or face times--thank you for all the support. It has made me realize just how privileged I am to be able to fight COVID head on with you guys in my corner. Tulad nga ng mensahe sa akin ni Alvin Anthony Viduya Alano, 'Kayang kaya ko to! Aside from Maybelyn, other celebrities and personalities also fell ill due to COVID-19. The most recent positive cases include Wally Bayola and Allan K.

While many public figures unfortunately succumbed to the dreaded disease, others have fully recovered:
