According to the Dubai-based magazine, it's their “biggest cover unveil to date.”
After bagging the Woman of the Year award from Dubai-based luxury magazine Xpedition, former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach is gracing its cover not once but nine times!
On Instagram, Pia shared that it's her first time to do a “cover shoot this big” in her 19 years in the industry as a model, an actress, and a beauty queen.
She said in one post, “I've never done a cover shoot this big. It took us three days to finish all the layouts, and we shot them all around Dubai.
“I love all the looks that we did too! They're so different. This is a fashion layout I've never tried before. It's not something people are used to seeing me in, but that's why I love it! I love being a chameleon with fashion.”
Pia added that it was quite a challenge for her and the team as they not only braved the heat, they also shot inside the famous Chillout Ice Lounge, where they took pictures inside the -6 degrees establishment for four hours straight.
“I love it when I get to express myself in photographs,” she confessed in another post.
“In this case, I get to express my love for fashion and creativity. Whenever I do a shoot with a team, I always allow them (the stylists, makeup artists, and hairstylists) to do their magic on me. To bring out their creativity in me.
Pia said, “Whenever I step in during a shoot, I see myself not as a beauty queen but as a blank canvas. I have an appreciation for their creativity. That's why I also like to switch it up and try something new.”
Pia's nine covers are part of Xpedition's special edition cover to celebrate the luxury magazine's 6th anniversary.
According to the publication, they are paying tribute to the queen who “brought back the light, kindness, and hope as she dares to reach new heights in her purpose-driven life beyond the universe.”
Last month, Pia addressed her haters after a few netizens said she did not deserve to win the Woman of the Year Award.
She said in a lengthy post on Instagram, “This year has been tough for me too. I've been trying to keep my head up and balance work and businesses, personal life, and even family issues. I've been through some really dark times this year (even Jeremy [Jauncey, her boyfriend] has seen it), but somehow, I've been able to fight through it, and I haven't forgotten about the people who believed in me.
“So to my bashers who work so hard to bring me down, okay lang sa akin kung ayaw n'yo sa akin or iba kasi ang bet n'yo. This month marks 5 years since I won Miss Universe, but there are people, are organizations, who still believe and trust in me, and that's all that matters.”
Pia is the second Filipino to be proclaimed Woman of the Year by Xpedition, the first being fellow Miss Universe Catriona Gray.
