Lana Condor and Ross Butler

Stars of hit teenage flick 'To All the Boys' Lana Condor and Ross Butler share that they were introduced to lumpia because of their Filipino friends.

Lana Condor and Ross Butler, stars of the Netflix hit movie series To All the Boys, join the list of Hollywood celebrities who love the Pinoy delicacy, lumpia.

They shared this with Kapuso reporter Nelson Canlas in a recent interview. The two stars were promoting the third and final installment of the teenage flick franchise, the To All the Boys: Always and Forever.

“I have a lot of Filipino friends. We get Filipino food up in San Francisco, and I love it,” Ross said. “Lumpia, it was like one of my favorite Filipino foods.”

Lana confessed that she became obsessed with lumpia when she was in high school. The fried spring roll was introduced to her by a Filipino friend.

“So one of my closest friends from high school is Filipino. Her mom would always make lumpia just for her [to] take to school. And so, I became so obsessed that I would force my friend to force her mother to make me my own private batch,” she shared.

Meanwhile, on January 14, Netflix dropped the trailer for To All the Boys: Always and Forever. It is premiering on the streaming site on February 12, just in time for Valentine's Day.

“For me it was showing up seeing what was on the page. We made small adjustments but never pressure, you know. I think it came off very natural and I have so much trust in the team,” said lead star Noah Centineo, who plays Peter in the trilogy.

Lana achieved global fame because of the film where she plays Lara Jean opposite Noah.

“I want to choose roles in films that help people feel not so alone. I want them to feel seen. I want them to feel represented. That is the responsibility that I welcome,” she noted.

The stars were supposed to visit the Philippines but it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Noah, who has received enormous popularity, vowed to meet his Filipino fans when the pandemic is over.

“Everyone in the Philippines has been so so lovely and has been supportive of me. This time that we're in will pass, assuredly will pass I promise you and when it does, I will be in the Philippines. I cannot wait to meet all of you,” he said.
