MONSTA X IM

On a scale of 1 to extremely hot, how steamy was I.M.'s 'God Damn' music video?

MONSTA X's I.M. has just dropped the music video for his lead track, 'God Damn,' and can we say god damn indeed.

His lead track's music video featured the K-pop idol in an underground bar as he tries to get over a certain someone.

By the end of the music video, he goes into a trance and is seen sitting alone in a corner before fading into black.

“God Damn” is a hip-hop track that, according to the Changkyun, I.M.'s real name, “best expresses me.”

He told Onsen, “It seemed enough to convey the atmosphere of reversal that the album was trying to say with the feeling that I had to lie to me, who had no choice but to say I was happy.”

The whole song attractively showcases I.M.'s beautiful bass voice, while the lyrics impressively flaunt the singer's ability to write and compose the said track.

“Duality” is I.M.'s first solo mini-album under his label, Starship Entertainment, which deals with the singer's duality.

According to reports, fans will be able to meet a different layer to I.M.'s musicality -- that is the opposite from his persona as a member of MONSTA X.

Aside from “God Damn,” the solo digital album contains four other tracks, namely “Howlin',” “Burn,” “ “Happy to Die,” and “Flower-ed.”

It seems like I.M. is experimenting in an emo hip-hop genre.

His track “Howlin'” talks about the ups and downs of emotions while “Burn” focuses on erasing memories without being bound by the past. Furthermore, “Happy” contains the story of fleeting happiness that comes from moment to moment.

In an interview with Onsen, the MONSTA X's maknae (youngest member) shared what it is like to release his solo album after six years since his debut and what it means to be working on his album full time.

He said, “After a long preparation, I am thrilled for it to be released. Though I worked on MONSTA X songs, I can honestly say I am a little worried and excited because this music is very different.

“I hope many people will enjoy listening to it.”

I.M. added, “I've been working on some of the songs since my debut, but it was only about two years ago since I started the overall composition and preparation for this album.

“I wrote, erased, and repeated it several times before deciding on the title 'Duality,' which perfectly described the songs recorded in this album.”

The K-pop idol also mentioned his goals this year, including meeting his fans and performing on stage with his MONSTA X members.

“I plan to work hard as a member of MONSTA X. I am very sorry that we couldn't face fans due to social distancing because of COVID-19 since last year.

“So I hope this year, once the COVID virus is gone, I want to perform with Monbebes while holding my hand.”
