In this day and age where we live a dynamic lifestyle, we always seek new experiences and adventures and aim to make a positive change for good!
Just like how we aspire to move forward, GMA Network is likewise adapting to change while staying true to its goal of providing fresh, new concepts for its viewers.
That being said, the broadcast giant is set to launch Good TV, or simply GTV, this February 22.
A revamp of GMA News TV, GTV is a dynamic, innovative, trend-setting, and exciting news and general entertainment channel for the young and the young at heart.
"Kung sa GMA napapansin n'yo the audience is very wide and mostly it targets the female audience, the housewives, the older audience but GTV, it will have a younger feel. But that does not mean na we're excluding also the older audience. Kasi lahat naman, kahit matanda, young at heart. Everyone, kahit 60 and above, still wants to watch young love stories to relive their past so that's what probably we want to carry on GTV," said President of GMA Pictures and GMA Programming Consultant to the Chairman and CEO Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes during GTV's virtual mediacon on Friday, February 19.
While GMA News TV will have a new direction, it will still air the news you trust and offer new shows to love via its rebranded channel.
GTV is keeping it good at making it awesome by offering a variety of program genres, not only GMA News and Public Affairs programs but also original drama shows, game shows, youth-oriented shows, magazine/lifestyle shows, sports, as well as canned programming.
Gozon-Valdes went on, "We've noticed that the audience now, especially during this time, they are looking for more variety. So while we are retaining the loved and trusted news programs of GMA News TV and other shows, entertainment shows, we're going to add NCAA soon so the name GMA News TV would not be apt anymore for this channel because of the variety of shows."
With that, GTV provides the latest news and stories via news programs Balitanghali and State of the Nation.
It also broadcasts trending feel-good news items, inspiring financial success stories, award-winning investigative documentaries, and myth-busting features via GMA News and Public Affairs shows Good News, Pera Paraan, Brigada, and IJuander.
Besides GMA News and Public Affairs programs, GTV delivers fun, vibrant, and passionate content by offering comprehensive and one-stop programming.
GTV also offers top-notch entertainment in such drama shows as The Lost Recipe, Heartful Café, My Fantastic Pag-ibig, and Love You Stranger which offer unique and fresh storylines.
GMA First Vice President for Public Affairs Nessa Valdellon stated, "Nabigyan kami ng chance ng GTV to tell new stories, to discuss themes that were are not able to discuss in the past so if you know The Lost Recjpe, there's time travel, tapos hindi linear 'yung storytelling, 'di traditional at sunod-sunod 'yung nangyayari mula sa kabataan. Then you have themes of competitions and ambitions, following your dreams which is really big with millennials and Gen Zs so magpapatuloy kami ng gano'ng klaseng drama series in the future."
For the Asianovela addicts, Filipino-dubbed versions of Korean drama Boys Over Flowers, and Thai dramas Rising Sun and Secret Love Online continue to spread kilig vibes via GTV.
On the other hand, screen junkies can watch their favorite films on free TV as GTV brings local and foreign films on the small screen via Sine Siesta Movies and Afternoon Movie Break.
Furthermore, popular travel show Biyahe ni Drew takes its viewers on a budget-friendly adventure every week, sharing travel hacks, bucket list ideas, and tipid tips for local and international destinations.
Of course, GTV won't be complete without food and cooking shows. Here, foodies can catch Pop Talk, Taste Buddies, Pinas Sarap, and the newly-launched cooking show Farm to Table that dish out fun activities and delicious meals and help viewers discover new favorite eats.
As GTV ventures into programming that is on point and of interest to the mainstream audience with strong appeal to younger audiences, it offers the latest hangouts for millennials and Gen Zs in youth-oriented reality programs IRL (In Real Life), Game of the Gens, and the soon-to-be-launched comedy-gag-variety show Flex which star the young and new promising talents of GMA Artist Center.
GMA Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara uttered with enthusiasm, "It's a good opportunity to build them up for them to tackle or give life to the good stories the producers will come up with."
Not to mention, GMA maintains its reputation to be the country's anime authority. Hence, cartoons and anime programs are also in place for the kids and kids at heart on GTV.
Gozon-Valdes also said, "We've lined-up the beloved animes that we have aired before in GMA, 'di ba GMA is known as the anime authority. So this will also trickle down to GTV, so for example, we're launching Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z. Those loved animes that we used to show years before in GMA, you'll also see them now in GTV."
Last but definitely not least, GTV creates a platform for sports junkies as it is set to broadcast National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)'s major sports such as basketball, volleyball, swimming, athletics, and cheerleading. This is after GMA and the Philippines' first athletic league officially signed the landmark deal covering the broadcast rights for NCAA Season 96 to 101, including its centennial year in 2024.
GMA First Vice President and Head of Regional TV and Synergy Oliver Amoroso proudly shared, "We are allocating a big chunk for its airtime for the games and, of course, we are open in the future sa mga other high quality na mga sports leagues But for now, we are focusing on season 96 with NCAA."
