Former American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee has welcomed her first child with her husband David Foster, 71.
The news was confirmed by People magazine that the couple had a son but has yet to share the name of the baby.
The couple's representative shared with the site, “Katharine McPhee and David Foster have welcomed a healthy baby boy. Mom, Dad, and son are all doing wonderfully.”
It was back in October when the singer and producer were announced to be expecting their first baby together after tying the knot in June 2019.
In an interview with “Women on Top” hosts Roxy Manning and Tammin Sursok, Katharine shared how she's delighted to welcome a son into the world in the coming days.
She said, “Now that I am having a baby boy, there are different things I need to worry about to teach him versus the things I would be thinking about with a girl.
“But, it's kind of refreshing because I feel like I don't need to think about those societal 'this is the way you look.' I think men have different issues and different things to worry about.”
Though it was the first time she publicly announced the gender of her baby, many had already speculated that she'd be bringing in a boy after she posted a picture of herself and her growing baby bump while wearing a blue coat and captioned it with two blue hearts.
David Foster and Katharine McPhee first met on the fifth season of American Idol, where the latter was a contender while the record producer served as her mentor.
In 2017, eyewitnesses spotted the couple enjoying an intimate dinner date in Malibu and were spotted kissing in public months later in a Beverly Hills restaurant.
The following year, David proposed to Katharine while the two were vacationing in Europe and later married in June 2019 at the church of St. Yeghiche in London.
Katharine's son with David will become the latter's sixth child.
He has five biological daughters named Sara, Erin, and Jordan, with ex-wife Rebecca Dyer, and daughters Allison and Amy from previous relationships.
Congratulations to the couple!
