Solenn Heussaff

Some of Solenn's followers said the photo used by the actress-host to promote her upcoming art exhibit was done in bad taste.

Kapuso actress-host Solenn Heussaff has issued a short apology with regards to her latest post promoting her upcoming art exhibit.

Solenn was accused by some netizens of “using poverty” to market her event after she posted on Instagram a photo of herself and her artwork in a slum area.

“You're a great artist but this photo was done in poor taste. Using poverty to promote your art is very insensitive. Rich people and their poverty porn,” a follower wrote on Solenn's post.

Another comment said, “Poverty porn? Is this how u sell ur arts [sic], Miss Solenn?”

Solenn's critics expressed disappointment with the photo's backdrop, saying that the actress and her team could have thought of another concept for the shoot.

Writing on Facebook, Solenn said, “Clearly people are quick to judge. I'll just share the story when people can see the complete exhibit.”

She already took down her post on Facebook but her Instagram post is still up, as of this writing.

Solenn followed up her post with an apology directed to those who felt offended by her post on Facebook and Instagram.

“I sincerely apologise and will post when I [have] the full story na lang,” she wrote briefly.

Solenn's third solo exhibit will run from March 26 to April 24, 2021 at Modeka Art in Makati City.
