We've all heard about K-pop. Now, get ready for AI pop.
South Korean tech company Pulse9 has announced the launching of the 11-member K-pop girl group, Eternity.
The catch: its members are all created with the use of deep-fake virtual imaging technology and artificial intelligence.
Eternity is composed of Minji, Seoa, Sujin, Dain, Yeoreum, Yejin, Jaein, Jiwoo, Hyejin, Sarang, and Chorong - virtual idols that possess human-like appearances with natural expressions and distinct charms and personalities.

The members will also pursue solo careers, release individual tracks and albums, appear on YouTube channels, market themselves as influencers, and brand models.
Eternity was formally launched yesterday, March 22, and will do pop-up promotional showcase events until March 26.

The group's first single is ironically titled, “I'm Real.”
The project is part of the growing AI-created celebrity concept that is being explored in South Korea.

Pulse9 said that its Deep Real AI technology standouts from the rest because of its realism, low cost, and short production times.

SM Entertainment, the giant South Korean entertainment company that helped popularize K-pop worldwide, has already dabbled into virtual idols last year through its all-girl group, aespa.
Lee Soo-man, founder of SM Entertainment, has said that his vision is to create a scene where real-life and virtual celebrities can come together and co-exist, even collaborate on projects.
“The members of the real and virtual worlds do not ask one another to do something in particular, but they interact and communicate as independent beings as they have AI brains. They talk to each other and help each other. They also become friends and share information. They do things in their respective worlds and share what they do,” said Lee during an event last year.
While innovative and unique, there are those who expressed concern with the idea of real people idolizing virtual celebrities.
Some fear that virtual idols could make fans precariously obsessive, pushing them away from reality as their fandom intensifies.
