K-pop group SHINee and their fans, referred to as SHINee World or SHAWOLs, took to social media to celebrate member Jonghyun's birthday on Thursday, April 8.

He would have been 31 years old (32 in Korean age).

On Twitter, the hashtags "#Happy_Jjong_Day" and "#블링블링_종현아_생일축하해" were among the trending topics as fans posted their messages for the well-loved idol.

On SHINee's Instagram account, a photo of Jonghyun was posted. Fellow members Minho and Key also greeted their hyung (older brother) on their personal Instagram accounts.

Leader Onew also mentioned Jonghyun's birthday on LYSN, as translated by Twitter user iheartshinee_.

Online events were also organized by SHAWOLs to commemorate the special day.

Megastar Sharon Cuneta, a longtime SHINee fan, did not fail to greet Jonghyun on Instagram.

Aside from being SHINee's main vocalist, Jonghyun (real name Kim Jong-hyun) was a well-respected songwriter, author, host, and radio DJ. He is credited for writing some of SHINee's hit songs such as "Juliette" and "View."

He served as the host of MBC FM4U's 'Blue Night' from February 2014 to April 2017. He also published a book in 2015 titled "Skeleton Flower: Things That Have Released and Set Free."

Meanwhile, SHINee just wrapped up their first online concert titled 'SHINee: SHINee World,' where they gave a preview of their new single "Atlantis."

The repackaged version of their seventh album, also called 'Atlantis,' along with the music video, will be released on Monday, April 12. The physical album will be available on Thursday, April 15.
