Taemin

“I received lots of love over those years. Thank you so much,” tells Taemin as he announces his enlistment date to fans.

“I am here to say something very serious today,” opens SHINee member Taemin on Monday evening, April 19, as he announces his enlistment date to fans.

Through SHINee's official VLive channel, the K-pop idol shared that he will be entering the military starting May 31.

“There is more than a month left, so I didn't want to spend it already being sad. I wanted to tell you with my own words directly,” he told fans.

“I am going to do a Beyond Live [concert] on May 2. My solo album will come around the second or third week of May, though the album schedule hasn't been confirmed yet. But, I will be able to show one last brilliant performance and music.”

He continued, “From May 31st onwards, I will go on hiatus.

“I feel like the first part of my life has ended, and that I will be able to look back on the things I have done so far.

“But, what I wanted to say is that for you guys not to be worried because I will be back next year.”

An emotional Taemin, while hugging his cat Kkoongie, then thanked his many fans from around the globe for their continued support since his debut at 14 years old with SHINee.

“Thank you for being by my side when I am lonely,” the Korean singer added.

“I think my job fits me well because I am someone who wants to receive lots of love. And to be able to consistently do one thing for 16 years, you have been patting me in the back and have been saying that 'I did well.”

In true Taemin fashion, the singer also spoiled a few details about his upcoming album that will be released in the coming month.

“Lots of people helped in making this album and the performance came out really well. The dance was made by someone named Kasper.

“I practiced 'til really late yesterday, and there were a lot of dancers who came to practice… around 12 persons, I think? Ah, I spoiled it.”

This is not the first time Taemin has hinted that he will be enlisting in the military this year.

In his past live broadcast, the 27-year-old singer suggested that he won't be with his fans “this summer” after a series of activities both as a member of SHINee and as a soloist.

“I will work on my solo album and I'm going to be busy working on many things. I'm going back too soon, right? I'm very excited! But, I'm very busy, right? I'm going to be on Beyond Live soon but I'm not sure of the date yet.

“I wanted to spend the summer together. Can I? Too sad. Summer this year is going to be hot. So it might be better without me.

“I want to be with you.”

Taemin is the fourth and last member of SHINee to enlist in the military. According to sources, he is expected to enlist as part of the military band, which was attended by his bandmate Key.

Despite the hiatus news, fans can expect a show-stopping performance from Taemin prior to his enlistment as he is expected to make his first online solo concert titled “Beyond Live - Taemin: Never Gonna Dance Again” on May 2, at 2 p.m. Philippine Time.

Tickets for his special Beyond Live concert can be purchased on Naver's VLive app starting today, April 20, at 2 p.m.
