The hit ballad “Kathang Isip” by the folk-pop group Ben&Ben is the most valuable song in the Philippines.
This is according to a study by Australian finance website S Money, which ranked the most streamed songs on Spotify in every country.
The study found out that “Kathang Isip” topped the list as far as the Philippines is concerned.
It was streamed 130,489,805 times, raking in $639,400 or P30.8 million based on S Money's estimate.
That amount though is minuscule if you compare it to the “most valuable song in the world” according to the study.
Ed Sheeran's massive yet controversial hit “Shape of You” was adjudged as the most-streamed Spotify song of all time with estimated earnings of $13,347,665.
The report wrote, “Ed Sheeran from the UK wrote Spotify's most valuable song in just 90 minutes - but this could be because he allegedly took his ideas from other songwriters.
“In fact, Spotify froze payments for 'Shape of You' until the copyright battle could be resolved. A shame, because the song has been spun 2,724,013,193 times around the world, totting up to $13.35m in royalties.”
The song “Rock Star” by Post Malone ruled the U.S. with 714,996,533 streams equivalent to $3,503,483 in earnings.
Meanwhile, the late DJ, Avicii, continues to make his presence felt in his home country Sweden through his hit “Wake Me Up,” garnering 117,178,113 Spotify streams for $574173 accumulated earnings.
Figures from the study were collected in February 2021 and used data from music analytics sites Kworb and Spotify to come up with the final tally.
