Tonipet Gaba

Host Tonipet Gaba knows that not everyone would agree with their reviews - and that's alright.

The long-running lifestyle show, Pop Talk, is known for dishing out the hottest trends and featuring various players in the food scene from all around the country.

It is also popular for its honest-to-goodness review with host Tonipet Gaba and guest judges deciding on the merits of a dish and food venue by giving it a vote of “Pop” or “Flop.”

But while such format is commendable, it can also elicit potential misunderstanding between the show and its subjects.

With that said, did the show ever got into trouble for its candid reviews?

“Kung mayroon man kaming na-encounter noon, we just let the episode speak for itself because all we do for each episode is show the truth and make them hear kung ano 'yong truth from our reviewers.”

Tonipet feels that both the viewers and the food industry, in general, are ever-evolving and smart enough to appreciate the show's format and honesty.

“It's a market that's very intelligent and very understanding. So far, ok naman, wala namang mishap or anything, tanggap na tanggap nila,” he smiled.

The show, after all, was conceptualized to support businesses regardless of size and clout - a vision that holds more weight today given the existing circumstances.

“We will soldier on, mas tutulungan natin sila,” assured Tonipet.
