It has been seven months since the GMA primetime series Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation) came to an end, but its lead actor, Dingdong Dantes, continues to receive accolades for his stellar performance in the series.
Recently, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) announced that the Kapuso actor is one of the Ani ng Dangal awardees for cinema this year.
Dingdong was selected to receive Ani ng Dangal as a recognition for his international achievement as Asian Star Prize awardee for his role as Captain Lucas Manalo a.k.a. Big Boss in the Philippine adaptation of the South Korean drama Descendants of the Sun at the Seoul International Drama Awards 2020.
According to NCCA, this "brought pride and honor to the Philippines" despite the gloom of the global pandemic that hit last year.
Aside from Dingdong, 61 artists, art groups, and creative works awarded internationally were also recognized in this year's Ani ng Dangal in the following categories: architecture and allied arts (1), literary arts (2), cinema (30), music (4), and visual arts (25).
Dingdong Dantes is indeed killing the game as he recently received another achievement to be proud of.
He was acknowledged as the Outstanding TV Actor of the Year by the 3rd Laguna Excellence Awards in line with his performance in the Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation).
Laguna Excellence Awards deemed Dingdong as a contributor to the success of the community for relevantly depicting the life of a military man in this time of pandemic.
Congratulations, Big Boss!
Aside from his work as an actor, Dingdong is also an advocate of the environment and promotes awareness about climate change:
