On its third year,
Pinoy Pop Superstar> continues to discover talents that will likely be the next big thing on the concert scene and be the
Regine Velasquez and
Ogie Alcasid of the future.

Composed of eight local finalists plus one world representative, they will take center stage and show what they are made of in front of an impressive panel of judges-
Jaya, Danny Tan and Floy Quintos. Often times critical, the judges give their inputs to each contestant so they can further improve their performance.
“Si Sir Danny po kasi although minsan straight to the point siya kung mag-critique alam ko po na yung sinasabi niya na let say diction, pronunciation, alam ko po na kapag in- adapt ko po, alam ko po na made-develop ko po yun. Although minsan kailangan ko talagang tanggapin yung critique niya na negative for me to develop,” says
Bryan Termulo, one of the nine finalists.
Aside from the criticisms, the judges are also generous when it comes to giving praises and brownie points to the nine hopefuls when they deserve it.
“Si Ma’am Jaya kasi ang nagustuhan ko na sinabi niya sa akin na kapag kumanta daw ako nilalagyan ko ng stamp ko, parang instead of me adjusting to the song…Before, ang fear ko baka mamaya ‘yung boses ko limitado na baka hindi ako maka-adjust sa ibang song pero sinabi niya na maganda nga daw ‘yung meron kang sariling identity. Nung sinabi niya (Jaya) yun parang nawala yung insecurities ko,” shares
Miguel Naranjilla.

With their insecurities slowly seeping away, they are truly on their way to having a crack at stardom. In the meantime, while waiting for their big break, each has their own regimen to follow to prep themselves up for the grand showdown on June 2.
“Iwas sa malalamig, number one. Tapos puyat hanggat maiiwasan, iiwasan ko. Tsaka nagvo-vocalize po ako kapag may extra time. Bago matulog umiinom ako ng mainit na salabat,” narrates
Marvin Gagarin.
“Total discipline po as in no gimmicks, bawal po ang nagpupuyat maski doing nothing at all po basta bawal po (umabot) ng past 12 (midnight) big no-no po. Bawal kumain ng sweets especially chocolates, drinking cold water or any soda. Sobrang disiplina po talaga,” adds
John Louie Abaigar.
