Comic book fans and Neil Gaiman aficionados got their first look at the highly-anticipated adaptation of Neil Gaiman's masterwork, The Sandman.
In the one-minute long teaser, viewers were treated to an almost panel-by-panel adaptation of the summoning scene from the very first issue of The Sandman. Shown in the trailer is Game of Thrones star Charles Dance as occultist Roderick Burgess and Tom Sturridge as Dream, the “Sandman” of the series.
Also part of the cast is Charles Dance's Game of Thrones co-star Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Dream's sister Death, and Jenna Coleman from Doctor Who as Johanna Constantine.
The Sandman is a critically acclaimed work and is one of the few graphic novels to ever appear on the New York Times Bestseller List, alongside graphic novels “Maus,” “Watchmen,” and “The Dark Knight Returns.”
The teaser was released as part of Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event, featuring more than 145 stars and creators around the world announcing new and returning Netflix shows as well as exclusive streaming films.
Other projects revealed during TUDUM were the latest seasons of hit Netflix shows like Bridgerton, The Crown, Stranger Things, and The Witcher.
Netflix films shown during the event include Red Notice, Don't Look Up, and Enola Holmes.
