Newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez took to her Instagram account to express her sentiments three days after her historical coronation.

In a lengthy post on Sunday, October 3, Beatrice expressed her gratitude to those who support her journey in the prestigious beauty pageant.

"BREAKING BARRIERS… No words can describe the pride and honor that I've been blessed with, from being a delegate tasked to represent my home, Cebu City, to being an ambassador and servant leader of my beloved country, Philippines.

"I am indebted to the people who rallied with me in my causes and in my journey to represent my community and to shed light in the diversity of women."

Beatrice is openly gay and is a proud member of the LGBT community. She is in a relationship with disc jockey and entrepreneur Kate Jagdon.

The Cebuana beauty went on, thanking "the people who never doubted my potential and saw the value of what I'm capable of."

Beatrice, a reserve marine corporal at the Naval Reserve Center in Eastern Visayas, said she is grateful "for giving me the platform to fulfill my passion for community development and service and for sharing with me the values and discipline of the Armed Forces."

The 5'9" pageant titleholder was trained under Aces & Queens, the modeling agency who gave birth to beauty queens like Catriona Gray, Pia Wurtzbach, and Megan Young. For Beatrice, the agency felt like "home" more than just a beauty camp.

Moreover, the official representative of the Philippines to the Miss Universe 2021 pageant thanked the Miss Universe Philippines organization, headed by Bibinibing Pilipinas 2011 Shamcey Supsup-Lee, sponsors, and local government behind the successful run of the pageant's second edition amid the obstacles brought about Covid-19 pandemic.

"I am most grateful to the entire @themissuniverseph organization headed by Miss @supsupshamcey, Mama @jonasempire.ph, Sir @voltairetayag, and the rest of the handlers and crew for taking care of us in the most challenging weeks that we've been through. I am as well grateful to the Local Government of Clark, @hiltonclarksunvalley, Province of Bohol, Governor Art Yap, and @henannresortbohol for allowing us to stage this prestigious celebration and for ensuring our safety for the entire duration of the competition."

The coronation night was initially set on September 25, 2021 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later rescheduled to September 30, 2021.

"Through the effort, patience, and discipline of everyone involved we were able to surpass every obstacle there was to continue the yearly tradition of celebrating the strength of every phenomenal woman in our country."

In the last part of her post, Beatrice ultimately gave thanks to God and vowed to make her country proud.

"Lastly, all the praise to my Creator for showing me the path I'm meant to take despite my doubts and fears HE made His way for me to trust myself and to trust in His plans for His greater glory.

"Gihigugma ko ang akong nasud nga (Mahal ko ang aking bansang) Pilipinas and everything I do from this day on will be for you."

Beatrice is the second person to be crowned Miss Universe Philippines under the new organizing body. The title was passed onto her by her predecessor, Rabiya Mateo.

Beatrice will represent the country at the Miss Universe 2021 pageant in Eilat, Israel in December 2021.
