There's no doubt, Filipinos love to eat! With the many food businesses that have grown popular amidst the pandemic, there is also not doubt that food is essential. Now that cities are opening up, join Atom Araullo this Sunday (Nov. 14) as he visits some of the food capitals in the country.
First stop is a street in Manila that has become popular for its food crawl: Ugbo St. in Tondo. The stalls in Ugbo offer all kinds of street food from takoyaki to our old-time favorites like halo-halo and puto bumbong, perfect for the Christmas season.
Next on Atom's itinerary is Pampanga, the country's culinary capital. Here he will meet centenarian, Apo Jungle, an Aeta elder who shares how their food has helped them survive through various hardships. Atom's visit in Pampanga will not be complete without tasting their classic tsokolate batirol and Aling Lucing's special sisig.
From Pampanga, Atom will head up north to the country's summer capital to find out how old meets new in their rich cuisine. He will also visit a lengua de gato factory and the famous Vizco's cake shop where pasalubong and strawberries have become synonymous to Baguio.
Last stop is Roxas City in the province of Capiz, also known as the seafood capital of the Philippines. Here Atom will discover the riches of the ocean and river systems of Capiz - from fresh lapu-lapu, scallops, and the diwal or angel wing clams that can only be found in a few provinces. Atom will also go waist-deep in mud to catch puyoy or eel, another popular delicacy in the province.
How far will you go to find good food? Join Atom in his gastronomic adventure in “The Atom Araullo Specials: Tara, Food Trip!” this Sunday at 2 p.m. on GMA Network. Kapuso abroad can watch it via GMA Pinoy TV.
