Wanna One

Wanna One last performed as a group back in 2019.

Wannables are having a good day today as organizers of the 2021 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) just announced that Wanna One will be staging a reunion performance during this year's awards show.

According to Korean pop culture news website Soompi, the group will be performing alongside the cast of Mnet's Street Woman Fighter during the December 11 show.

“Wanna One, who set a variety of music records within Korea during their promotions and also played a part in spreading K-pop all over the world, and the 'Street Woman Fighter' crews, who are key players in the K-dance scene and have also played a major role in spreading K-pop all over the world, were both recently confirmed to be attending MAMA on December 11. They will be preparing a special performance that will thrill music fans,” said a statement from the award show organizers.

Wanna One was the group that emerged from the reality competition show, Produce 101 Season 2. The group was made up of Kang Daniel, Park Ji Hoon, Kim Jae Hwan, Ong Seong Wu, Lai Kuanlin, Yoon Ji Sung, Minhyun, Bae Jin Young, Ha Sung Woon, Lee Dae Hwi, and Park Woo Jin.

The group also performed here in the country last September 2019 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Since their disbandment in 2019, members of the group have gone on to successful solo or group careers. Kang Daniel has released multiple solo albums, while Minhyun, Bae Jin Young, Lee Dae Hwi, and Park Woo Jin have successful careers with the groups NU'EST, CIX, and AB6IX, respectively.

Kang Daniel has even visited the country in 2019 as part of his “Color on Me” Asian tour.

News of the reunion immediately spread among Filipino Wannables, with Wanna One quickly becoming a trending Twitter topic.
