
Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu made history for India yesterday, ending the country's 20-year title drought in the prestigious pageant.
The country last won the title in 2000 and several popular Indian beauty queens took to social media to celebrate this moment.
Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen, who won when the pageant was held in the Philippines posted on Instagram saying that it was Harnaaz's destiny to win the crown.
She posted, “Congratulations @harnaazsandhu_03 Thank you for representing India so beautifully, for bringing back the Miss Universe Crown to India after 21 years (by a 21 year old 😁, you were destined).”
Sen continued, “May you enjoy every moment of learning & sharing this incredible global platform @missuniverse will provide you….may you reign supreme! My love [and] regards to your Maa & family…bohut bohut Mubarak."
Meanwhile, former Miss Universe titlist Lara Dutta Bhupathi tweeted this heartwarming message to the new Miss Universe queen.

Another famous beauty queen from India, Priyanka Chopra, the former Miss World 2000 titlist also congratulated Harnaaz Sandhu for her achievement in the Miss Universe pageant.
