Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez is once again calling on her countrymen for support, not to win a beauty pageant, but to help her home province of Cebu recover from the devastation brought by Typhoon Odette.

In a post on the Miss Universe Philippines Facebook page, the organization announced that they would be canceling interviews and welcome festivities in support of Beatrice as she had just received word that her family was trapped in their home during the typhoon. Rather than go to interviews, the Miss Universe Philippine Organization said that Beatrice would be heading to Cebu to help as soon as she ends her quarantine.

In a later post on the Facebook page, Beatrice shared more about what happened, saying that it took only a few minutes into a Facetime call with her mother and sister before things turned “ghastly.” While her entire family is now safe, the beauty queen called on everyone to help the Simply Share Foundation and the Naval Reserve Center of Eastern Visayas in the recovery efforts.

Bea is just one of the many celebrities that are calling on Filipinos to help the Visayas region recover from the devastation brought about by Typhoon Odette. Last night, Andi Eigenmann provided updates on her Instagram account and asked for prayers for Siargao and the surrounding islands.
