"Ang goal naman natin in this industry is to tell as many stories as possible, to touch as many lives as possible, to inspire as many as possible through our storytelling," said Dingdong Dantes who stars in MMFF 2021 action-drama movie 'A Hard Day.'

Two-time Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) best actor Dingdong Dantes is one of the frontrunners for the best actor award at the annual award-giving body on its 47th year.

Dingdong gave a promising performance in the action-drama film A Hard Day which could lead him to earn his third best actor award.

However, the primetime actor explained in a live media conference for A Hard Day that winning such is not his main goal. The MMFF 2021 Gabi ng Parangal will happen tonight, December 27, at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier in Taguig.

"'Yung isang guiding principle ko parati sa paggawa ng pelikula o TV shows man 'yan ay gusto ko parating, kumbaga, napu-push ko 'yung sarili ko sa mga bagay na hindi ko pa nagagawa," said Dingdong who plays the problematic detective Edmund Villon in the movie.

According to Dingdong, he makes sure to always step up his acting game whether it's on TV or in films.

"Kung titingnan ko rin 'yung filmography ko, kumbaga, pahirap siya nang pahirap.

"Kumbaga hindi ako bumbalik sa kung ano 'yung nagawa ko dati kung saan komportable ako so I really push myself always to the limits.

"And, ika nga nila, it's the term we use in acting, I always wanna do edgework and push it up to that point where I'm no longer comfortable so by doing that, I continuously challenge myself and I reach certain areas and, kumbaga, points wherein hindi ko siya nararating dati kaya siguro gano'n din 'yung nagiging kinalalabasan ng mga movies and TV shows."

He then reiterated, "Pero, personally, 'yun lang naman ang guiding principle ko and that's it.

"Kung nagustuhan siya ng tao, sobrang bonus para sa 'kin kasi ang goal naman natin in this industry is to tell as many stories as possible, to touch as many lives as possible, to inspire as many as possible through our storytelling."

Speaking of pushing himself to the limits, Dingdong shared one role he has never done before that he'd like to do in the future.

"Gustung-gusto ko po gumawa ng isang biopic kung sino man. I'm sure there's so many interesting characters out there so 'yun po 'yung isa sa mga hindi ko pa po nagagawa...

"I'm thinking of someone who is not literally, kumbaga, hindi national hero level, 'yung mga kwento ng mga modern-day heroes natin, 'di ba, sa kanilang sariling pagsisikap at kanilang mga ginagawa sa lipunan, e, talagang naging significant 'yung impact nila."

Dingdong headlines A Hard Day with 78th Venice Film Festival's Volpi Cup best actor John Arcilla.

A Hard Day is the Philippine adaptation of the 2014 South Korean crime-action film with the same title, starring Lee Sun-Kyun of hit movie Parasite.

The movie follows Detective Edmund Villon who is having a hard day, and the following events that happen to him in less than 24 hours.

His mother passed away. He and his coworkers are investigated by police inspectors over alleged embezzlement.

On his way to his mother's funeral, he drives recklessly and commits a fatal hit and run. He tries to cover up the accident by hiding the man's corpse in his deceased mother's coffin.

After the burial, Lt. Ace “Alas” Franco (John Arcilla) out of nowhere, starts giving Villon threats and warnings. He is about to expose Villon's crime if he does not get what he wants from him - the corpse of the man that Villon hit.
