Gerald Anderson thanks authorities for their immediate action over the robbery incident done in his SUV.

Actor Gerald Anderson has been victimized by a “basag-kotse” gang along Roces Avenue in Quezon City.

Based on the CCTV cameras installed in the area, two men riding a motorcycle stopped near a black SUV parked in the said area. The passenger then alighted from the motorcycle to check the vehicle for valuable items. A few minutes later, he took off his helmet and forcefully broke one of the windows the SUV. He quickly went inside, grabbed a bag, and returned to the motorcycle driven by an accomplice.

However, upon observing that the area was still clear, he went back to the SUV and grabbed another bag in the passenger seat. The basag-kotse tandem quickly drove off followed by another rider who served as the lookout.

According to the investigation done by the Special Action Unit of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI SAU), the motorcycles used by the burglars were actually identified with a Tondo-based basag-kotse group. A surveillance and casing operation was immediately conducted until authorities successfully closed in the house of one of the suspects.

The officers recovered two designer bags, two wristwatches, and a gadget, while the actor's wallet, IDs, and passport are still missing.

One of the suspects, identified as John Allen Dancel alias Elong, admitted to breaking the car windows and stealing the actor's valuables.

Furthermore, the investigation revealed that the suspects have been involved and incarcerated in the past over robbery-related cases.

In a video from NBI SAU, Gerald expressed his gratitude for the authorities' immediate action.

Authorities are still on the hunt for the other two suspects at large who were positively identified by Dancel.
