
The Philippine basketball community felt the rippling effect of the Alaska Aces' shocking announcement that the current Governor's Cup will be its last one in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
The Alaska Aces released an official statement about the team's retirement on Wednesday morning, February 16, via its Facebook page.
“After more than 3 decades of basketball, 14 titles, and a grand slam, it is with a heavy heart that Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) announces the retirement of its Alaska Aces team from the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).”
In addition, the Alaska organization assured that the players and coaching staff will be taken care of and thanked them for their extraordinary talents.
“For the last 35 seasons, the Alaska Aces has brought pride, honor, and joy to AMC. We are extremely grateful for the extraordinary talents of all of our players and coaches and the hard work of the team's managers and staff, whom we all consider as family.
“Rest assured, we will ensure that each one of them will be taken care of as they transition into a new chapter in their careers.”
Moreover, the Alaska organization also expressed their profound gratitude for the amazing support of their ardent fans for the past three decades.
The statement reads, “As we bid farewell to our beloved Alaska Aces team, we thank you all of you, loyal fans and supporters, for showing your love and support through all of these years.”
Fans of the Alaska Aces took to social media to share their sadness with the end of one of PBA's most successful franchises.
