GMA Executive Lilybeth G. Rasonable highlights the strengthened need to inspire and entertain people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
GMA Network's Senior Vice President for Entertainment Lilybeth Gomez-Rasonable highlighted the importance of entertainment in the lives of many people, especially during the COVID-19 crisis.
“Sa dami at sa tindi ng pinagdadaanan natin lahat ngayon, kailangan magkaroon ng hope. At maramdaman na things will get better soon. Kailangan natin magkaroon ng inspirasyon para magpursige na ipagpatuloy ang buhay. Ipagpatuloy ang laban. At the same time, of course, there's so much depressing news all around us. And even just around your neighborhood or within your family, so now, people need to be entertained,” she said in an exclusive interview forKapuso Insider.
Rasonable also shared how entertainment programs serve as a source of hope and inspiration to its audiences since it helps provide a temporary escape from their worries and hardships in real life.
“[Nakatutulong siya na] makalimutan, even for a few hours, kung ano 'yong mga pinagdadaanan nila sa araw-araw. Hindi naman mawawala 'yan pero kailangan ng balanse, 'di ba? Kailangan may pahinga ka rin sa mga problema para makapag-recharge ka. Makapag-restart ka. So ngayon talaga, mahalaga na patuloy tayong gumagawa ng mga programa na mag-i-inspire at mag-e-entertain more than ever.”
The COVID-19 pandemic posed numerous risks and restrictions to every industry, likewise affecting GMA Network's Entertainment Group. It later led them to embrace innovative and often-costly practices in producing television series and programs but despite all these factors, Rasonable still proudly reiterated the network's commitment to continue creating meaningful entertainment shows for the Filipino people.
“Kahit mahirap. Kahit hindi rin biro 'yong paggawa ng entertainment programs, pinagpapatuloy ito ng GMA,” she said.
In early January, GMA Network unveiled a compelling lineup of shows for the Kapuso audiences to anticipate this year; some of which have already aired on the small screen, including Little Princess and I Can See You: AlterNate.
