PBA player Terrence Romeo faces various complaints after he has been named by investors over an anomaly in a poultry business he is allegedly involved in.
In a report on 24 Oras, two of the investors came out to relay their experience and “Marco” (not his real name) is one of them. He invested in the said poultry business prior to the pandemic. He invested a staggering P10,000,000 with the promise that his money will profit 25 percent every month.
“Bibili kaming chicks, 'yung chicks na 'yun sila magpapalago sa farm nila, and meron kang makukuhang dibidendo every month. Noong mga unang buwan okay po sila pero noong tumagal nagkaroon po ng delays,” he said.
Marco further revealed that apart from farm tours and extravagant company events attended by big celebrities, one of the reasons that convinced him to invest is because one of its endorsers is allegedly San Miguel Beermen cager Terrence Romeo.
“Kami ay siyempre agad na nagtiwala kasi star-studded at the same time star player pa, 'yun ang pinaghawakan namin,” he said.
However just a few months later, he stopped receiving dividends he was supposed to get. The worse part is that the people operating the business suddenly cut off communication. As evidence, he holds a check worth P8,000,000 under Terence's name.
Meanwhile, “Barbie” (not her real name) is among a group of teachers who also invested in the business.
“Una ipinakita po samin 'yung farm, pangalawa miniting po kami pinakilala sa'min si Terence Romeo din tapos nagpakita ng mga pictures, tapos 'yung mga nag-invest,” she said.
She chipped in P50,000 with other teachers who also wanted to invest. They were able to pool money worth P2,000,000.
Over the past week, a formal complaint was already filed by the investors before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) which promised to take immediate action.
GMA News sought to get a clarification from Terence but the number he was using remains inactive.
