In the modern version, talented home grown tween actresses Barbie Forteza, Joyce Ching, and Krystal Reyes will breathe new life into the roles that catapulted the careers of Antoinette Taus, Sunshine Dizon, and Kim delos Santos.
Considered as today's GMA Tween Queen and 26th PMPC Star Awards for Movie New Movie Actress of the Year, Barbie showed her prowess in acting when she reprised the role of the young Jodi in
Stairway to Heaven. She topbilled several Kapuso programs
First Time,
Tween Hearts,
Pilyang Kerubin,
Nita Negrita,
Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin,
Luna Blanca Book 2, and
Paroa: Ang Kuwento ni Mariposa.
Versatile actress Joyce marked her break in showbiz when she portrayed the role of the young Shirley in the Kapuso network's remake of
Endless Love. Recently, she earned praises as she gave a notable drama performance in the 'Pakawalang Anghel: The Michelle Reyes Story' episode of GMA's drama anthology
Magpakailanman.
Krystal, a formidable young actress, gained the respect of the public when she made her remarkable stint in
Bakekang as Kristal. She continued her way to the drama genre as she stepped on her first starring role in
Princess Charming and played the lead role in the TV remake of
Mga Mata ni Anghelita. Her recent project was the afternoon series
Hindi Ka Na Mag-iisa where she acted opposite Jennylyn Mercado.
Adding romantic and love angles in the series are Kapuso tween heartthrobs Derrick Monasterio, Julian Trono, and Hiro Peralta. Derrick started his career on GMA's teen series,
Tween Hearts, and has been active in showbiz as he joined several shows of the network. In 2010, he received an award for the Best Male New TV Personality at the PMPC Star Awards for Television. On the other hand, Julian grew up hosting Tropang Potchi and he proved that he has a flair for dancing when he joined
Party Pilipinas. While Hiro made his stint in the teen series
Tween Hearts and also appeared on several GMA shows like
Iglot,
Biritera, and
Cielo de Angelina.
In the story of
Anna Karenina, Doya Carmela will post a 10,000,000 peso reward for whoever finds her granddaughter, Anna Karenina Monteclaro. Hundreds of 15-year old girls will claim the identity of Anna Karenina but most of them are fake; except for three girls who showed authentic birth certificates and other proofs - all three girls bear the same name yet they have different motives.
Up to what extent are Anna, Karen, and Nina willing to prove who the real Anna Karenina Monteclaro is? Could money, change, and love bring them immeasurable happiness?
Making the masterpiece even grander are the casting coup of respected actors and actresses of Philippine television Sandy Andolong, Yul Servo, Neil Ryan Sese, Juan Rodrigo, Valerie Concepcion with Allan Paule, Ana Roces, Maybelyn dela Cruz, Maureen Larrazabal, Alicia Mayer, Kathleen Hermosa, Joanna Marie Tan and with the special participation of Yasmien Kurdi as Maggie Monteclaro, the mother of Anna Karenina.
From the original concept of RJ Nuevas and under the helm of award winning director Gina Alajar, witness as the drama unfolds on GMA's
Anna Karenina, which premieres June 3 after 24 Oras on GMA Telebabad.
