Newbie actor Rob Gomez is a busy guy these days.
After starring in Erik Matti's A Girl and a Guy, he landed a lead role in the GMA Telebabad series Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune, which recently concluded.
As a relative newcomer to the industry, Rob finds himself overwhelmed when he gets recognition from more established actors.
In a recent interview, he recalled a celebrity encounter which happened by chance but left such a great impression on him.
"May bago pala 'kong favorite actor ng GMA. Ise-share ko lang 'to kasi I had a really wornderful experience. Lumabas lang ako ng elevator, 'tapos binati niya ko. I had a face mask and everything. Binati niya ako, 'Hi.' Sabi ko, 'Hi po.' Sabi niya, 'I'm Tom.' Gumanon siya. Sabi ko, 'Hi po, I'm Rob. Yeah, I know you.' Gumaganoon ako kasi sikat siya," Rob recounted.
He is referring to Kapuso actor Tom Rodriguez.
"Really si sir Tom Rodriguez, he was nice, sobrang bait. Nagulat din po ako. That certain kind of gesture, really stood out. Siya 'yung unang actor na lalaki na gumanoon po sakin doon kaya nakakatuwa. It speaks a lot about a person," he said of Tom.
The encounter was so memorable for Rob that hopes to be able to work with Tom one day.
"Sobrang natutuwa ako, as in. Sabi ko, 'Wow, next level ka. I like you. Sana makatrabaho kita.' Parang ganoon 'yung dumating sa utak ko. Props to him. Sana marinig niya ito," Rob enthused.
Other than that, he has heard great things about Tom.
"He's so cool. I hope I get to work with him. Sana! I heard he's good. I heard he's a good actor. I love working with great actors," he shared.
For now, Rob dreams of starring in an action flick.
"I'm manifesting. I can't make promises, only God knows. Hindi pa nasasabi sa akin pero nararamdaman ko na. Guys, please keep on supporting me," he said.
