Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray's own wax figure has finally been unveiled at Madame Tussauds Singapore!
The official unveiling was broadcasted through Madame Tussauds Singapore's (MTS) Facebook Live where Catriona was present.
Catriona met her own wax figure in the museum and shared the story behind the life-sized figure's look.
"Who's that girl. What a surreal moment to (FINALLY!) launch my very own wax figure at @mtssingapore after 3 years! Kiliiiig akoooo!" Catriona wrote.
"I'm so honored and flattered to be the only Filipino wax figure here in MT Singapore!
"Also for those that are curious! @maktumang created an ah-mazing replica lava gown! The small differences on the neckline are to hide the "seams" where the head of the wax figure fits onto the body! The lava gowns mesh base presented a challenge but Mak masterfully worked around these!
"We chose the "final walk" look from @missuniverse sans MU sash and crown, because the interactive concept is to "LavaWalk" with me. Also as the only Filipino in MT Singapore, it brings me so much pride to have the PHILIPPINES sash front and center."
During the Facebook Live, Catriona said she was so amazed to see the figure resembled her so much--down to her teeth and veins on her hands.
"I've always had the perception that to be in Madame Tussauds, you had to be an influential historical figure, like a president or an A-list global superstar," Catriona shared to GMA News Online.
"If you had told 13-year-old me, 'hey, you will have a Madame Tussauds wax figure one day,' I wouldn't have believed you. To be standing here is quite surreal.
“Everything you see on the wax figure is as close to reality as it can possibly be,” she said. “I looked at her teeth, even the veins on the hands -- it's crazy."
The process it took to create the wax figure included 3D photography to analyze Catriona's tiniest details.
She explained, "“Even my beauty spots -- I have a lot -- she has them. Feeling ko napagod yung artists trying to like put the spots for my moles, but it's really really incredible.”
Catriona is the third Filipino to get a wax figure at Madame Tussauds. She is, however, the first Filipino to get a wax figure at the museum's Singapore branch -- giving Catriona immense honor and thankfulness.
"To be here at Madame Tussauds Singapore as the only filipino, it's my hope that my fellow kababayans, fellow Filipinos walk these halls, that they feel a sense of pride because that's the emotion I carried on the Miss Universe stage," Catriona said during the launch.
“I look forward to the day where you could walk through Madame Tussauds and see a Filipino scientist, performer, or leader. I think that's something [we should] really aim towards achieving," she added.
Madame Tussauds Singapore will be unveiling Catriona Gray's wax figure to the public starting March 31.
