GMA Network x ABS CBN

Star Cinema movies will now be available on GMA Network's local channels after signing a landmark deal with ABS-CBN.

GMA Network is once again making television history as it is set to air various movies from Star Cinema, the film outfit of ABS-CBN.

Top executives from media giants GMA Network and ABS-CBN came together in a virtual ceremony on April 5 to mark the contract signing.

Attending for GMA were President and COO Gilberto R. Duavit Jr., EVP and CFO Felipe S. Yalong, GMA Films President and Programming Consultant to the Chairman Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, and First Vice President for Program Management Department Jose Mari R. Abacan.

"Echoing what I heard on the AVP earlier, 'ang dating impossible,' that resonated simply because over the years we've both sat across different partners, different individuals, formalizing partnerships. But there was one that was always missing, something that many believe was not possible nor probable. We're very pleased because the significance of our partnership today ushers in the possibilities of [a] far broader set of conversations, potential partnerships, and cooperation that will have the benefit not only mutually to GMA and ABS-CBN, perhaps more importantly, to the benefit of the public we both serve, the Filipino viewer," said Mr. Duavit.

Representing ABS-CBN were Chairman Mark Lopez, President and CEO Carlo Katigbak, COO for Broadcast Cory Vidanes, and CFO Rick Tan.

"Every storyteller's dream is to have as many people as possible, experience their creations. Now, because of the kindness of our friends at GMA, we have the special opportunity to bring our Kapamilya stories to a new audience. We hope the Kapusos find joy and inspiration in viewing our Star Cinema movies. And we also look forward to a new era of friendship and cooperation within our small industry," Mr. Katigbak expressed.

Also present were GMA Vice President for Corporate Communications Angel Javier-Cruz, GMA AVP for Program Management Mitzi Garcia, GMA AVP for Corporate Communications Jojo Aquio, ABS-CBN Head of International Sales and Distribution Pia Laurel, ABS-CBN Head of Corporate Communications Kane Errol Chua, ABS-CBN PR Director Christelle Belmonte, ABS-CBN PR Manager Tonichi Tataro, and Managing Director of ABS-CBN Films Olivia Lamasan.

The deal will see Star Cinema movies air on the local channels of GMA Network starting this April.

These movies include favorites such as global blockbuster hit Hello, Love, Goodbye starring Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo, It Takes a Man and a Woman with John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo, My Ex & Whys top-billed by Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano and more.
