The albums that are part of Rolling Stone's list are "the mindblowers that define music at its most ambitious.”

The fourth studio album of global group BTS, “Map of the Soul: 7,” has landed a spot in Rolling Stone's '50 Greatest Concept Albums of All Time' List.

An article published by the magazine said that the albums that are part of the list are "the mindblowers that define music at its most ambitious.”

It added that “[t]o make it high on the list, an album had to be both conceptually tight and musically awesome.”

Released last February 2020, BTS's “Map of the Soul: 7,” is a follow-up to their 2019 extended play, “Map of the Soul: Persona,” and was introduced in time for the band's seventh anniversary.

“Map of the Soul: 7” took inspiration from the philosophy of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung.

The magazine noted that BTS “borrowed terms from Jungian philosophy” to “paint a complete portrait of their real selves.'”

It added, “with Map of the Soul: 7's heart-rending tracks like “Black Swan,” the Bangtan boys cracked open their stage facades, exposing their fame-fueled fears with piercing introspection.”

As with their previous albums, each member also had their own solo songs in “Map of the Soul: 7,” which gave listeners more insight into the members.

The rap line, in particular, utilized three Jungian archetypes namely, the persona, shadow, and ego for RM's “Intro: Persona,” SUGA's “Interlude: Shadow,” and J-hope's “Outro: Ego.”

“Map of the Soul: 7” won 'Album of the Year' in several music awards in 2020. It was also the first pop album to be released and certified platinum by RIAA in 2020.
