A courageous girl frees the Monkey King---a god trapped in stone---which leads to a quest to find seven sacred scrolls and save the world from evil.
A new fantasy series titled The New Legends of Monkey is coming to GMA.
Inspired by the Japanese TV series Monkey,The New Legends of Monkey has garnered a huge fanbase in New Zealand, Australia, the U.K., and South Africa.
It stars Luciane Buchanan as Tripitaka, Josh Thomson as Pigsy, Emilie Cocquerel as Sandy, and Chai Hansen as Monkey King.
The first season begins 500 years ago when the Monkey King was put in exile beneath a mountain by his enemies in Heaven.
Fast forward to present times, the earth is overrun, and humans are oppressed by demons. The gods and immortals are in hiding and oppressed by the demons as well.
A scholar secretly makes a plan to gather warriors and a monk named Tripitaka, to join a quest to free the Monkey King and find the Heavenly scrolls. The scrolls were stolen by the Monkey King 500 years ago and are hidden away somewhere on earth. Anyone who finds the precious scrolls would gain infinite power.
However, as the group was about to start their quest, a demon attacked the scholar's home and killed everyone inside except for the scholar's adopted daughter. She took the golden crown necessary to revive the Monkey King.
In his last moments, the scholar entrusts his daughter with the quest.
She takes on the identity of Tripitaka and ventures out into the world, on the quest to find the Monkey King.
